Wallisellen/Zug 29 November 2018. Allianz Switzerland is awarded EDGE ASSESS Certification for workplace gender equality. With this certification, Allianz commits to being an attractive employer that takes equal opportunity seriously.
As part of the EDGE Certification process, a deep analysis of Allianz Switzerland data and processes was conducted, including a comprehensive survey of Allianz Switzerland employees. The results showed that Allianz is on the right path to: building a strong gender balance at all levels of the organization; ensuring there is no statistically significant gender pay gap; creating a solid framework of effective policies and practices to ensure equitable career flows for both women and men when it comes to pay equity, recruitment and promotions, leadership development training & mentoring, flexible working and organizational culture; and creating an inclusive culture.
- With part-time positions for both women and men, home-office options, and on-site childcare at the headquarters in Wallisellen, Allianz Switzerland enables employees to arrange their working schedules flexibly, in order to balance their careers, private lives, and family responsibilities.
- With two weeks of paternity leave – national regulation prescribes only one day – Allianz Switzerland enables fathers as well as mothers to devote themselves to their families in the important first days following the birth of their children.
- Allianz Switzerland has been working for some time to ensure that there are no differences in compensation between women and men. As part of their EDGE Certification process, the company strengthened their commitment to proactively manage gender pay equity on an annual basis. In this respect, Allianz Switzerland is a step ahead of pending regulation requiring equal pay for equivalent work in Switzerland.
“I am convinced: The more diverse a company is, the more successful it is. With our diversity strategy, we have committed to a holistic approach to leadership and collaboration, and we are creating opportunities and choices for everyone,” says Dr. Jörg Zinsli, COO at Allianz Switzerland and Chairman of the Diversity and Inclusion Board.
“We are thrilled about our EDGE Certification. EDGE brings to light evidence of our strengths, while also indicating where there is still potential for improvement. Among other things, we want to further increase the percentage of women at the top management levels, and ensure that flexible working opportunities are even more widely available throughout the company,” says Karin Hablützel, Head of Diversity and Work Well at Allianz Switzerland.
“Allianz Switzerland sets an example in offering dual-career families an equal opportunity environment. We are very pleased to award them EDGE ASSESS Certification,” said Aniela Unguresan, co-founder of the EDGE Certified Foundation. “Gender equality is an important success factor. Through this certification, Allianz Switzerland is showing consumers, investors and employees that gender equality is truly important to them.”
About EDGE Certification
EDGE is the leading global assessment methodology and business certification standard for gender equality. It measures where organizations stand in terms of gender balance across their pipeline, pay equity, effectiveness of policies and practices to ensure equitable career flows as well as inclusiveness of their culture. Launched at the World Economic Forum in 2011, EDGE Certification has been designed to help companies not only create an optimal workplace for women and men, but also benefit from it. EDGE stands for Economic Dividends for Gender Equality and is distinguished by its rigor and focus on business impact.
Gender equality in the workplace is assessed and accorded one of three certification levels. “EDGE ASSESS” recognizes an organization’s commitment to gender equality. “EDGE MOVE” showcases the progress of organizations which reach certain gender-equality benchmarks. “EDGE LEAD” celebrates the success of organizations which demonstrate exemplary gender equality.
The EDGE assessment methodology was developed by the EDGE Certified Foundation, which continues to act as the guardian of the EDGE methodology and certification standards. Its commercial arm, EDGE Strategy, works with companies to prepare them for the EDGE Certification. EDGE Certification is currently working with nearly 200 organizations, in 50 countries and 23 industries. Read about or follow EDGE on: www.edge-cert.org, LinkedIn, Facebook, or Twitter.
