ENGIE GBS France Showcases Progress On Gender Equity With EDGE Move Certification
ENGIE GBS France, a global leader in low-carbon energy and services, has become EDGE Move certified, confirming its progress towards workplace gender equity. It joins the other companies of the ENGIE Group – ENGIE Brasil Participações and ENGIE Impact which are certified at EDGE Assess level, and ENGIE Tractebel which is globally EDGE Assess certified.
EDGE is the leading global assessment and business certification for gender and intersectional equity. The certification process involves a rigorous third-party review of representation across the pipeline, pay equity, effectiveness of policies and practices, and inclusiveness of an organization’s culture. As an integral part of the assessment, statistical data is analysed, policies and practices are reviewed and employees receive a comprehensive survey to assess perceptions of career development opportunities in the workplace.
EDGE’s assessment reveals that ENGIE GBS France has a very good gender representation of men and women across all levels of management, with gender balance in the upper and top management levels of responsibility. The organization also has a strong framework of policies and practices to ensure equitable career flows in the areas of equal pay for equivalent work, leadership development training and mentoring, and flexible working. In addition, ENGIE GBS France has systematic practices to ensure gender-equal access to career-critical assignments.
Gender equity is part of the organization’s strategic goals, highlighted in the employee survey conducted by EDGE, where both men’s and women’s perceptions are aligned when it comes to believing that gender equity is important for the organization to remain a competitive key player in the market. Their EDGE Move Certification will enable the company to successfully contribute to ENGIE Group’s Fifty-Fifty Programme, which aims to accelerate inclusion at the Group level and create the necessary conditions to achieve gender parity in managerial positions by 2030.
Looking onwards, the organization is committed to enrolling on a formal mentoring program for men and women that will be launched at the ENGIE Group level starting from June 2022. This program will offer employees different opportunities to develop themselves, as well as promote diversity and inclusion. Another important focus that ENGIE GBS France has committed to is ensuring that all members of the top management team are committed to achieving gender equity in the organization.
“Professional diversity is a rich variety of points of view, backgrounds, sensitivities and skills. It is one of the key commitments of the Charte de la Diversité signed by the Management Committee. Beyond the recognition of Engie GBS’ actions in favour of gender diversity, EDGE Move certification encourages us to continuously improve and monitor our actions. It is a commitment to continue our efforts over the long term.” says Faroudja Kicher, Head of Human Resources of ENGIE GBS.
Aniela Unguresan, Founder of EDGE Certified Foundation reflects on the businesses progress and future: “Along with security and decarbonization, gender equity is one of ENGIE’s three main extra-financial targets, and ENGIE GBS France is using the rigorous review and third-party certification from EDGE to support this global goal of the ENGIE group.
“This is the first time ENGIE GBS France has been certified and its current status on gender equity puts it directly at the EDGE Move certification level, paving the way for others in the ENGIE group and energy sector to follow.”
