EDGE is the leading global assessment methodology and business certification standard for gender and intersectional equity. The certification process involves a rigorous third-party review of representation across the pipeline, pay equity, effectiveness of policies and practices, and inclusiveness of an organization’s culture. As an integral part of the assessment, statistical data is analysed, policies and practices are reviewed and employees receive a comprehensive survey to assess perceptions of career development opportunities in the workplace.

EDGE’s assessment shows that ENGIE Romania has a strong framework of effective policies and practices to ensure equitable career flows when it comes to leadership development training and mentoring, and flexible working. This is also reflected in the employees’ positive perception of equal training opportunities offered to men and women to improve their professional skills.

In ENGIE Romania, almost one in three employees is a woman, and one in two managers is a woman. ENGIE Group’s target is that by 2030, the position of managers will be occupied 50% by women and 50% by men. In 2021, 142 women joined ENGIE Romania, representing 32% of the total number of new employees. The commitment to gender equality is also reflected in internal mobility programs, with around 50% of women changing their roles within the company.

The increase in women’s employability within ENGIE Romania is the result of the company’s commitment to create professional opportunities and career development, as well as to promote and support the principles of gender equality and non-discrimination in selecting and recruiting new employees.

ENGIE’s commitment is to have an inclusive recruitment policy and to promote a work environment that promotes gender equity. Every year, an average of 350 new employees join ENGIE Romania.
