McKinsey & Company has released its 2022 Women in the Workplace study. Conducted in partnership with LeanIn.Org, the report provides in-depth insights into the state of women in corporate America. This year, employment data from 333 organizations and survey data from more than 40,000 employees was collected.
The key takeaway is that women are demanding more from work, and they’re leaving their companies in unprecedented numbers to get it, what LeanIn.Org and McKinsey & Company refer to as the “Great Breakup”. The report findings show that women are still not being put up for promotions at similar rates as men, are still dramatically underrepresented in leadership, and now, women leaders are leaving their organizations at higher rates than ever before. This could have enormous implications for companies and highlights the need for companies to implement polices and programs that drive progress towards more equitable, supportive and inclusive workplaces.
