The organization is the first in the insurance industry in Argentina to be EDGE certified
Zurich Insurance Argentina, an organization part of the Zurich Insurance Group, has demonstrated a consistent commitment to workplace gender equity by progressing to EDGE Move level certification, becoming the first organization in the insurance industry in Argentina with an EDGE Move certification and only the second organization in the country to have reached this important milestone.
EDGE is the leading global assessment and business certification for gender and intersectional equity. EDGE Move level is the second level of certification which demonstrates an organization’s progression in fostering workplace gender balance and gender equity. Certification involves a rigorous third-party review of representation across the pipeline, pay equity, effectiveness of policies and practices, and inclusiveness of an organisation’s culture. As an integral part of the assessment, employees receive a comprehensive survey to assess perceptions of career development opportunities in the workplace.
The organization meets the EDGE Standard for its effective policies and practices in equal pay for equivalent work, recruitment and promotion, flexible working, and organizational culture; showcasing significant progress from its first EDGE Assess certification achieved in 2019. There is now a better alignment in the perceptions of women and men relating to fairness of pay, hiring and promotion opportunities and equal access to career-critical assignments. Furthermore, currently no high-level risks associated with gender pay equity were detected.
To continue its drive to achieving high standards in a gender balanced workplace, Zurich Insurance Argentina has opportunities to accelerate progress towards improving equal access to mentoring programs for men and women and strengthening the gender representation by increasing the share of women at the Director level to 30%.
Aniela Unguresan, Founder of EDGE Certified Foundation, says the organization is helping to set a benchmark in the financial sector, and throughout the country, in achieving a gender equal workplace: “Zurich Insurance Group has a long history of outstanding achievements in the areas of gender equity and Zurich Insurance Argentina continues this tradition by upgrading its certification in only two years.
Its proactive approach towards pay equity for men and women greatly assisted in hastening their progress toward a gender-balanced workplace. Employees, particularly women, have expressed greater trust that the company upholds the principles of pay equity and that it works to ensure fair promotion process. These are clear indications of Zurich Insurance Argentina’s firm progress towards gender equity in the workplace. Its commitment is setting a commendable example for other organizations in the insurance industry of Argentina to emulate.”
